About Provstehuset

Provstehuset is located in the diverse Nordvest district, close to Copenhagen’s educational institutions. Nordvest is full of life, combining beautiful nature with the city, and with shops and public transport just a few minutes’ walk away, your home’s location makes everyday life easy.

The area also offers cozy cafés, cultural attractions, and green spaces where you can relax or meet friends. Bike paths and public transport make it easy to explore the rest of the city, and the lively streets of the neighborhood always provide inspiration and energy.

At Provstehuset, we embrace diversity and welcome both Danish and international students. We believe this creates a strong dynamic, where friendships naturally form across borders.

What we offer

At Provstehuset, you’ll find modern apartments and thoughtfully designed common areas that make everyday life both easier and more inspiring. You can cook and dine together in the shared kitchen, stay active in the free fitness area, or meet neighbors on the large rooftop terrace, which offers space for both relaxation and socializing.

The property also offers practical amenities such as free courtyard parking, a secured bike cellar, and laundry facilities – all freely available to residents.

We have an office in the building, providing informal and easily accessible contact between residents and staff, so you can always get quick help and answers to your questions.

The architect’s Ideas

When you step into the common room at Provstehuset, you quickly notice the creative and unconventional design. Nature has been invited indoors—not only through the use of natural wood materials, but also via the decorative tree trunks, which almost let you imagine the treetops stretching above the building’s roof.

The space provides room for both socializing and focused work:

Challenge friends to a game of table football with spectators cheering from the stands, create mind maps on the large notepads with your study group, or unleash your inner child and enjoy the swing with good friends.

The architect’s vision creates an environment that fosters both community and concentration in many different ways.

The history of Provstehuset

Provstehuset was built on the corner of Provstevej and Theklavej in 2017. Before the construction of the student housing complex, the 2008 plan had been to demolish the previous corner building from 1887, which was located on what was then Carolinevej (today Provstevej) and Thoravej.

In 2008, Den Gamle By in Aarhus (Jutland) was looking for a corner building for the museum’s 1974 neighborhood. When they learned about the demolition plans, the building was instead transported to Aarhus and given new life.

Today, a piece of Nordvest is on display for visitors exploring the living museum at Den Gamle By.
